Dean Kamen is best known for his invention of the Segway ...

He also pioneered a number of innovative medical technologies including the first insulin pump, a portable dialysis unit, an early coronary stent, the Autosyringe and an advanced wheelchair know as the iBot.

Kamen also founded "FIRST", an international high school student "coopetition" to stimulate interest in science and technology.
