Announcing the 2009 Developmental Cancer Research Awards in Translational and Population Sciences

2008 Award Recipients

Twenty-one individuals received development grants for their translational (more) and population science research (more).

The Stanford Cancer Center is pleased to announce the availability of grant funds to support the development of interdisciplinary translational and population science cancer research projects.

Through the Developmental Cancer Research Awards (DCRA) the Stanford Cancer Center seeks to stimulate the development of high-quality, multidisciplinary translational cancer research with direct application to cancer diagnosis, treatment or care.

2009 DCRA Priorities:

• Collaborations between basic scientists, clinical researchers and population researchers;
• Collaborations between Stanford and NCCC investigators
• Projects led by young investigators;
• Innovative clinical trials; and
• Projects in GI, prostate and women’s cancers.

Through generous support from the President’s Office and John and Jill Freidenrich, the Cancer Center expects to fund a number of one-year projects this year. Funds will be awarded on a competitive basis for up to $50,000 per project.

Applications are due July 1, 2009.

Stanford faculty working in highly cancer-relevant areas of research are eligible to apply. Postdoctoral trainees are eligible to apply if they provide a letter of support from their sponsoring faculty preceptor and a Cancer Center member.

For more information regarding eligibility and application requirements, please refer to the DCRA Guidelines for Translational and Population Science Proposals that are available on this web page.
