March 2015.

First-Year PhD Student Marianne Black was recently awarded a 3-year Graduate Scholarship by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).  This is a highly competitive scholarship, and one of the most prestigious awards given to Canadian Graduate students.

Marianne is in her first year of her PhD program in Mechanical Engineering at Stanford, co-supervised by Drs. Marc Levenston, Garry Gold and Brian Hargreaves.  Her research is centered around biomechanics and tissue biomechanical properties in the knee joint, and how imaging can be linked with mechanical properties.
