Research Interests

As a postdoc with a background in molecular genetics, I am interested in developing novel gene and cell therapies.  My role in the Bacchetta-Roncarolo group involves generating gene therapies to treat immune-related diseases.  My project focuses on IPEX syndrome, the prototype genetic autoimmune disease.  I have developed a gene editing strategy for IPEX that uses CRISPR to gene correct FOXP3, the causative gene in IPEX syndrome.  Currently, I am investigating whether this CRISPR strategy is an effective and safe treatment by using in vitro and in vivo models.  The ultimate goal of this project is to gene correct patient hematopoietic stem cells for autologous transplant as a cure for IPEX.
