On tap for the day:

Class and Lab
No exercise this morning, instead it's off to my 10 am class. One of the benefits of Stanford being the world-class university that it is (and having everything housed on one campus) is that it allows you to take classes in topics outside of your discipline but that might interest you.
This class, entitled "Issues in K-12 Science Education," is targeted for math/science/engineering grad students who are interested in the topic. It's 2 hours per week and is pretty interesting. It's also made me aware of a number of things in both education and science education that I had not been aware of previously .
On the way back from class, I took some pretty pics of the church and the main quad, which I ride by on a daily basis, but are still stunningly beautiful.

After class, it was off to lab where I checked the results of an experiment that I started Monday. It didn't quite turn out as I might have hoped, but that's how science goes...you win some, you lose some (if everything worked on the first time, it'd be called "search" instead of "re-search").

I left lab at about 4:30 pm to make it to the BioAIMS meeting at 5 pm, back on the main med school campus. BioAIMS stands for the Biomedical Association for the Interest of Minority Students.
It was founded about two years ago and focuses on outreach, recruitment, academic workshops (such as applying for fellowships, how to read a journal paper), and social activities. I currently serve as VP. (Note: BioAIMS meetings are monthly, not every week)

After the meeting (which had free dinner, I think that's number 4 of the blog), I went out along with two of the members to Costco to do some shopping for a BBQ that our organization was throwing with the minority medical student's associations on Thursday.
Here was the end result (though you can't see the 72 burgers and 64 hot dogs which are underneath all the buns and drinks).
I got back to my room at 9 pm but my night was hardly over. After temporarily "losing" my wallet for about 15 mins (thankfully I found it in my bookbag), I had to do a little reading for the paper discussion in the next day's advanced immuno class. Thankfully, the papers were pretty straight-forward, so I was able to read them both and write up my little blurb about the papers that we're required to do in about an hour.
After this, I took one of my friends to the airport at about 11 pm, then made it back and crashed in the bed (running around all day is tiring)...
