Busy Monday!
Today is Monday May 8th. Everyday I start out with reading the Daily Word that I have e-mailed to me. It is a way for me to reflect on the many different issues that our world is dealing with. Today's was about children.
I love children very much. I grew up with kids around me all of the time since my mother's job is running a home day care center. One day I would love to have children and pass on to them the many things I have learned and been brought up with.

Since I am doing full time research my week consists of time spent in the lab. After performing a two hour occlusion of the middle cerebral artery in the brain of the rats I run western blots of the tissue to study various protein levels in the Extracellular Regulated Kinase(ERK) pathway.
I also am studying the potential synergistic effects of two inhibitors of kinases to better understand the neuroprotective effects these two inhibitors exhibit in an in-vivo stroke model.
Today, I processed the tissue that I collected last week during surgery.

I also am blessed to work in a facility that has a beautiful view that I enjoy everyday that I come to lab. Here is a picture of the view right outside my window where my desk is.
Tomorrow I have surgeries lined up so I will be able to share with you some pictures of the surgeries that I do. After my work was finished in the lab, my fiance and I went to have dinner at Mongolian BBQ in downtown Castro. We love eating there!
After dinner we went for a walk at Valley Fair Mall in San Jose. It is one of my favorite places to go shopping at.
I now am winding down my day. I went for a work out and enjoyed reading "The Color Purple" while I worked out. I am almost finished reading this wonderful book.
One of the things I have done during this year is read as many books as I can. I love to read and know that once I start clinics, I won't have that much time to do so. Some of the books I have read are "The Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell, "The Future of Freedom" by Fareed Zakaria, and "My own Country" by Abraham Verghese.
Okay, that was my Monday. We'll see what tomorrow brings along!.
