Happy Mother's Day Y'all

Candace and Mother
So it was just my mom and me, out for a quick bite

So close...but no dice. My mom and I were really hoping to be able to take my grandmother out to lunch today for Mother's Day, especially since she hadn't been out of the house in months. Her health has been poor of late, but it seems that she's recently hit an upswing, so we were optimistic that she might be up for venturing outside.

Things were looking good this morning, as she spent quite a long time picking out which outfit to wear and meticulously doing her hair and makeup. But, unfortunately, it was not to be, as I think all that prep work might have worn her out, and by the time we were ready to head out, she was feeling too weak and short of breath to push forward.

The Weather May Have Been Too Pleasant
...The weather may have been a little too pleasant, though, because I totally just fell asleep sitting in the sun.

Back at home: today's the last day before I start my 4-week hardcore Boards studying schedule, so I decided to relax a little, take advantage of the gorgeous Oregon summer weather, and read outside.

Candace Cooking

After making some dinner (which is actually rather stressful, when you happen to be cooking for the person who taught you everything you know about the culinary arts...and also the person who taught that person everything she knows about the culinary arts...oy!), I decided to celebrate my last night of quasi-freedom before the Boards schedule eats my life by being a couch potato and watching Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy.

I've managed to hook my mom on Grey's, as well, so she joined me in front of the TV. I have to say, tonight's Part I of the season finale was pretty riveting stuff, so long as you can get past the glaring, blatant medical errors. I mean, yeah, yeah, it's a fictional TV show...but come on, I defy you to watch tonight's episode and not be screaming at the television, "Dude! Two transplant teams!! There should be two surgical teams!!"

It's Off to Bed For Me

Anyway, it's off to bed soon for me, since the schedule says I'm supposed to know all of gross anatomy by the end of the day tomorrow (eek!), and I need to squeeze out an extra two hours in there somewhere to watch Parts II and III of the Grey's Anatomy season finale...guess it'll be a busy day, eh? =)

It's been fun times blogging away this past week, and I hope it's been at least somewhat interesting for you as well! Peace.
