From the Desk of the Associate Dean for Alumni Affairs
Dear Fellow Alumni,
I would like to introduce two new staff members joining me at SUMCAA. From a national search that produced an amazing pool of candidates, Patrick Delahunt emerged as the ideal professional to help lead our efforts as Director of Alumni Relations. Until his appointment at Stanford he served as the chief alumni relations officer at the University of California, San Francisco, responsible for the overall UCSF Alumni Association as well as programming for the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy, and Graduate Division, each of which has its own association. Prior to assuming that position three years ago, during Patrick’s 15+ years at UCSF he led alumni relations programs for the School of Medicine, and administered the UCSF Clinical Faculty Association.
Jessica Pollyea brings wonderful experience and skills to the role of Associate Director of Alumni Relations. Most recently she has served as Director of External Relations for Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, overseeing alumni relations and managing the School’s national Board of Advisors. Jessica began at the Medill School in 2001 initially as Assistant Director of External Relations, then Associate Director, before being promoted to Director of External Relations in 2004. Prior to joining Northwestern, she was a Senior Account Executive with the public relations firm Weber Shandwick in Chicago, where she worked on some important and memorable projects including the “Got Milk?” campaign. Jessica is newly married, and her husband, Dr. Daniel Pollyea, has just begun a fellowship in hematology and oncology in Stanford’s Department of Medicine.
Best,
Ross Bright, MD '58

ALUMNI NEWS AND NOTES
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alumni Magazine—Call for Class Notes
The inaugural issue of Bench & Bedside, the new magazine of the SUMCAA, will be published this fall. One of the most important features of an alumni magazine is the class notes and to be successful in this endeavor we need your help. Please send us information on where you are and what you are doing. Don’t be reluctant. Your classmates want to hear about you. Submit today to: medalumni_relations@stanford.edu.
Commemorative Bricks Needed
A special note to San Francisco Grads! We need your bricks! I know you remember when the old medical school buildings were demolished. After they came down the Medical Alumni Association sold commemorative bricks to members as a way to keep the old school spirit intact. While the memories still remain, and to make them permanent, we are working with the planners of the new Learning and Knowledge Center facilities to collect some of those bricks and develop a historical structure which will pay homage to the history of our school. If any of you older alumni are willing to part with your bit of the old Stanford please send them to:
