Determining FRIP Status
There are two questions to ask an emeritus faculty member who wishes to be recalled:
- Did you retire under FRIP?
- If the answer is "No", process a regular (non-FRIP) recall.
- If the answer is "Yes", ask the next question:
- Which "version" of FRIP did you retire under - Old, Transitional, or New?
(If the faculty member does not know the answer to this question, ask for the date of their retirement instead.) Use the following chart to determine whether further recalls are possible:
|If your faculty member...||FRIP Version||Their recall availability is...|
Retired after 3/15/10 (and/or anounced retirement after 8/31/09)
Initial recall is for one year (ages 68-71) or two years (ages 63-67) at 50% FTE.
No further recalls allowed except under extraordinary circumstances; contact Ellen Waxman for information.
|Retired on or before 3/15/10 and announced retirement 1/1/09 - 8/31/09||"Transitional"||No recall except under extraordinary circumstances; contact Ellen Waxman for information.|
|Retired before 2009||"Old"||Non-FRIP recall. No limits on number of subsequent recalls.|
If you have further questions about FRIP and your faculty member, please contact the Office of Academic Affairs.
