Siddhartha Mukherjee on understanding cancer
What is cancer, and where does it come from? Oncologist Siddhartha Mukherjee, MD, sets out to answer these questions in his book, The Emperor of All Maladies, as he examines the way cancer has been described and treated throughout history. In this podcast, Mukherjee discusses how a void in our understanding of the origin and history of cancer motivated him to write a biography of this seemingly immortal illness. A Stanford alumnus, he earned a degree in biology in 1993. He is currently an assistant professor of medicine at Columbia University and a staff cancer physician at Columbia University Medical Center. Length: 31 min.
